Mano minimal

I rarely come across jewellery that I'm truly taken with. Often, jewellery pieces are too colourful, too showy, too loud for me. Predictably, I'm fond of jewellery that has the same qualities as the fashion and design that I appreciate: minimal, modest, functional, delicate. However, all of the jewellery I've found with these features have a price tag well above my student allowance, so you can imagine how amazed and happy I was when I found this amazing and old mum's ring. You can find some similar in a lot of flea markets. I really like the coral, but I find it stupid to buy it again, the coral reefs of our planet are decreasing because of the human hand, so I prefer to buy it already used or fake! The bracelet I took quite some time ago by Tiffany & co. and I used it very little, I decided to resumare all the new things that almost never use!

Shrinking cities

While I was studying for the exam of Urban Planning, a topic particularly struck me: the phenomenon of Shinkage and Shrinking cities, or cities that become ghosts, there are many around the world, Italy, including.
Some parts of my Urban Planning slides:

"Shrinking city" is a densely populated urban area whit a minimum population of 10,000 residents that has faced population losses in large parts for more than two years and is undergoing economic transformations with some symptoms of a structural crisis" [Wiechmann]

"City shrinkage is the result of globalization and its effects in terms of the relocation of industry and metropolization. The new distribution of economic structures has led to agglomerations of activities in some regions, whereas others are experiencing decline" [Cunningham-Sabot, Sylvie Fol]

"A shrinking city is characterized by economic decline and, as a consequence, the trasformation of urban areas. In addiction, loss of employment opportunities tends to spark partial out-migration". [Karina M. Pallagst]

This phenomenon is not new, it is also to be found in the past, but first caused by wars, epidemics, disasters, now there is an important difference in the current case this decline in social bases manifests itself in a period of relative peace and prosperity. The causes are several traceable: deindustrialization, suburbanization, political and social transformations ..
An example is the obvious case of Detroit, a city that saw the economic boom of the early '60s, becoming one of North America's most important poles with regard to the automotive industry, then "die" and become an empty city, nonexistent, uninhabited password?
On Youtube I found some interesting videos, one stems from this city, the second a small Italian village in Tuscany. two different examples that speak of the same situation.
During the course of planning, our professor recommended a very interesting site: www.100abandonedhouses.com where you can find a lot of abandoned houses.
At this point I wonder .. Why? Why leave these countries or big cities at the mercy of a fate so cruel? Why do we continue to build houses, we continue to cemented (soil sealing) this poor land that is screaming for mercy? Problems exist and many are obvious, but why there is no information? So rather than build a new complex would not be better to restructure an existing one?

[Karina M. Pallagst]

How to: make coconut balls

This recipe is very simple, consists of simple ingredients that can be found in every supermarket or even at home. The coconut balls are a perfect dessert for the summer in particular, but also for any time when you find yourself in need of a dessert. Generally, they are made completely of coconut, in this case, I added the cocoa to give a little more color and taste.

Ingredienti:
  • un piattino di coco
  • un piattino di cacao amaro
  • tre cucchiai grandi di zucchero di canna
  • un bicchiere di latte
You will need:
  • small dish with grated coconut
  • small dish inside with cocoa
  • three teaspoon of brown sugar
  • a glass of milk

PREPARAZIONE:
METHOD:
Once prepared the various ingredients to make coconut balls, take a bowl of medium size.
Put into: the coconut, cocoa and brown sugar.
Aggiungete il latte fresco
Add the milk

Begin to mix everything together until it forms a ball more or less compact.
If the mixture is too liquid, add more shredded coconut.

Prepare another dish with grated coconut in which you'll flour the balls detached from the compound of the bowl. Concluded that put them in the fridge for two hours minimum.

This simple recipe can be extensively modified to suit your taste, for example there are people who add the butter, rum or Marsala, vanilla, ricotta ...
