Sono stata a Malta per solo quattro giorni e nonostante sia un isola di medio-piccole dimensioni credo non mi siano bastati per vedere tutto, o se non tutto la maggior parte delle attrazioni, ogni giorno cercavo di farmi uno schema mentale per organizzare la giornata, ma alla fine decidevo sempre sul momento e il tempo sembrava volare! Ad esempio sarei voluta andare anche a Gozo, ma purtroppo non ci sono riuscita.. Però sono andata a Comino!
Questa isoletta è davvero minuscola, per rendere l'idea ha solo un hotel! La maggior attrazione sembra essere Blue lagoon, che in sostanza è la spiaggia. Raggiungere Comino è molto semplice. Ci sono due modi principali:
- raggiungere Sliema ( la fermata dell'autobus si chiama Sliema ferries) in cui ci sono molti chiostri di compagnie private che offrono viaggi a/r in giornata al modico prezzo di 30-45 euro, dipende da compagnia a compagnia
- la seconda soluzione (che ho scelto io) da Sliema prendere il bus in direzione Cirkewwa, e scendere al capolinea dove c'è il terminal sia dei bus che di ferries. Da qui vi sono delle navette express che per 10 euro a/r in giornata assicurano il trasporto.
La consiglio come luogo da visitare perchè rappresenta qualcosa di diverso da Malta, un consiglio è quello di svegliarsi presto quando si decide di andare perchè l'isola è davvero piccola e talvolta nel pomeriggio è difficile trovare un posto per l'asciugamano!
I biglietti dei bus costano davvero poco, 1,50 euro per l'intera giornata il che è basilare dato che a Malta non c'è la metro nè il treno, inoltre offre la possibilità di lasciarsi trasportare tra i diversi paesaggi che caratterizzano quest'isola. L'unica pecca è che il centro dei bus è a La valletta, ogni volta che si vuole andare in un posto nuovo bisogna fare ritorno a La Valetta appunto e cambiare bus, ma alla fine niente di che! La Valletta è la città principale di Malta, come il resto dell'isola è talmente piena di turisti che è davvero difficile trovare un autoctono a cui rivolgere delle domande.
Prima che La Valletta diventasse capitale lo era Mdina, questa è anche conosciuta come "città del silenzio" infatti i suoi vicoletti incutono un senso di mistero e curiosità. Io l'ho visitata nel primo pomeriggio, faceva davvero caldo, ma se vi piace la fotografia andateci lo stesso perchè nelle prime ore del pomeriggio è come se la città si "accendesse". Si, le imponenti e robuste mura delle case col sole diventando... Accese! Non trovo un'altro termine che possa definire meglio quello che penso.. Provare per credere. Inoltre, subito dopo aver messo il piede in questa città si respire il profumo della storia, una storia lunga e complessa che solo che costruzioni che ci sono ancora oggi la conoscono realmente.
Non capita spesso che io visiti musei o strutture simili quando sono in viaggio, perchè sono convinta che solo una piccola parte materiale della storia dei luoghi e delle culture sia chiusa li dentro. La storia, l'arte, la cultura, la vita è per strada e tra la gente. Ho fatto un eccezione per i templi neolitici a Tarxien, è un sito megalitico molto interessante. Fortunatamente per vedere questo non era necessaria la prenotazione, in un altro vicino (quello che volevo vedere) invece si, ed io ovviamente non lo sapevo! Comunque vedere questo mi ha davvero colpito, non ne avevo mai visto uno in realtà! Tutti dovrebbero vederne uno, dove sono stat io vi erano anche delle incisioni su pietra a dir poco perfette!
Saint Julian penso sia il fulcro della vita notturna, fino alle 4 am c'è ancora parecchia gente in locali e per strada e io sono andata per la fine di maggio quindi posso immaginare come sia in alta stagione! Oltre questo a Saint Julian si possono vedere le tipiche barche maltesi coloratissime, inoltre Janon, un ragazzo che ho incontrato lì, nativo di Malta mi ha detto che le barche autoctone oltre che dal colore si riconoscono dagli ochhi. Si, hanno degli occhi disegnati o in rilievo, sono simbolo di scaramanzia, simbolo per allontanare la sfortuna e avvicinare la buona sorte.
Parlando in termini economici ho preso un volo ryanair a 39euro a/r, l'hotel era a Saint Julian, si chiamava Blue sea Hotel, 4 giorni a 50 euro. La vita lì non costa poco come Lisbona ma comunque è tutto abbordabile; chiaro poi dipende dal tipo di vacanza che si desidera e il proprio budget disponibile.
Tirando le somme Malta mi è piaciuta molto, le persone sono molto calorose e disponibili con i turisti, tutti parlano inglese qualcuno anche italiano e spanish. Inoltre io l'ho trovata un isola molto sicura, per esempio il mio aereo era alle 8 del mattino circa, e dato che il mio hotel distava circa 45 minuti in bus mi sono mossa per le 5 am e non ho avuto nessun problema di nessun genere. Una cosa importante dall'areoporto: da qui si può prendere comodamente il bus pubblico che porta nelle diverse parti dell'isola, il biglietto solo andata costa 1,30, a mio parere conviene prendere quello giornaliero (1,50) così lo si può usare tutto il giorno.
Bellissima esperienza e un grazie a Jason che mi ha conosciuto in una crisi di nervi per dei problemi con l'hotel e nonostante ciò è stato molto carino e amichevole. Poi un grazie a Liza da Rotterdam, una mia vicina di camera con lei ho visto qualche città e nonostante parlasse solo olandese siamo riuscite a capirci in qualche modo, spero di rincontrarti in qualche altro posto del mondo!
I've been in Malta for only four days and despite is an island of small to medium size I think I have enough to see everything, or if not all, most of the attractions. Every day trying to make me a mindset to organize the day, but in the end I decided always on time and the time seemed to fly! For example I'd also wanted to go to Gozo , but unfortunately I did not succeed .. But I went to Comino !
This island is really tiny , to make the idea has only a hotel! The main attraction seems to be Blue lagoon , which in essence is the beach. Reach Comino is very simple. There are two main ways:
- Reach Sliema (the bus stop is called Sliema ferries ) in the cloisters of which there are many private companies of boats that offer trips to / r day at the modest price of € 30-45 , depends from company to company
- The second solution (which I chose ) to take the bus from Sliema in Cirkewwa direction , and get off at the terminus where there is a bus terminal and ferries too . From here , there are shuttles Express for 10 € R / T ensuring day shipping .
I suggest to visit this place 'cause it represents something other than Malta , a tip is to wake up early when you decide to go because the island is very small and sometimes in the afternoon it is difficult to find a place for the towel !
The bus tickets are really cheap , 1.50 € for the whole day which is fundamental given that in Malta there isn't the metro neither train, also offers the possibility of drifting between the different landscapes that characterize this' island . The only flaw is that the terminal of the buses to La Valletta , every time you want to go to a new place you have to go back to La Valetta and just change the bus, but in the end it's fun! La Valletta is the main city of Malta , like the rest of the island is so full of tourists that it is really hard to find a native who you can ask some direction questions .
Before La Valletta became the capital of Mdina was , this is also known as the "city of silence" in fact its narrow streets inspire a sense of mystery and curiosity. I've visited in the early afternoon , it was really hot , but if you like taking pictures go there all the same because in the early hours of the afternoon is as if the city is " turning on " . Yes, strong and imposing walls of houses with the sun getting ... Turned on! I can not find another term that can better define what I think .. Try it to believe it. In addition, immediately after putting your foot in this city you can breathe the scent of history, a long and complex history that only buildings that are still there today really know .
It's not often that I visit museums or similar structures when I travel , because I am convinced that only a small portion of the material history of the places and cultures is closed in there. History, art, culture, life are in the streets and among the people. I made an exception for the Neolithic Tarxien temples , is a megalithic site very interesting. Fortunately this was not necessary to see the book, in another near ( the one I wantent to visit ) instead , and I obviously did not know! However, see this really stimulant, I had never actually seen one ! Everyone should see one, where I stat there were also of stone carvings nothing short of perfect !
Saint Julian I think the highlight of the night , until 4 am there is still a lot of people in clubs and on the street and I went to the end of May so I can imagine how it is in season! Apart from this you can see in Saint Julian the typical colorful Maltese boats , also Jason , a guy I met there , a native of Malta told me that the native boats as well as the color can be recognized by ochhi . Yes, I have drawn the eyes or in relief, are a symbol of good luck , a symbol to ward off bad luck and bring good luck .
Economically speaking I took a Ryanair flight at 39euro a / r , the hotel was in Saint Julian , was called Blue sea hotel, 4 days at 50 euro . Life there is not cheap as Lisbon but it's all affordable ; clear then depends on the type of holiday you want and your budget.
Summing Malta I liked very much, people are very warm and helpful, everyone speaks english and spanish someone even Italian . Also I found it a very safe island, for example, my plane was at about 8 o'clock in the morning, and since it was near my hotel about 45 minutes by bus , I move for about 5 am and I have not had any problems of any kind. One important thing about airport transports: from here you can easily take the public buses that brings in different parts of the island, the one-way ticket costs 1.30 , in my opinion should daily take one (1.50) so you can use throughout the day.
Wonderful experience and thank you to Jason who knew me in a fit of nerves for the problems with the hotel and even though it was very nice and friendly . Then thanks to Liza from Rotterdam , a neighbor of my room with her I saw some city and despite only speak Dutch we managed to understand each other in some way , I hope to see you again somewhere else in the world!
